These volumes were selected from the McCrae family library in August 1986, when it was in the possession of Sir Norman and Lady Cowper. They were selected because of their inscriptions, annotations or other evidence of association with members of the McCrae family, in particular (but not only) Georgiana McCrae, George Gordon McCrae and Hugh McCrae.
